WinSales 5.0 Unable To Open System Database On Log In Because WINSALES.SYS Must Be In The Same Directory As WINSALES.EXE

If you are using WINSALES 5.0 and receive the message, “WinSales 5.0 was unable to open the WinSales system database. Please contact silent partner for assistance. Error = Could not find file C:\Windows\desktop\Winsales.SYS'.”, when clicking OK at the Connect To Database window attempting to log into any database you may have an issue with your WINSALES.SYS file location.

This error is caused by the WINSALES.EXE not finding the WINSALES.SYS file in the directory where the program file resides.

We have seen users experience this problem when the WINSALES.EXE is copied into the desktop with the intention of making a shortcut, but instead of a shortcut the entire file is moved. If you can log into the program by selecting WINSALES through the START menu WINSALES program group then the issue is the shortcut on the desktop. Please review or recreate the shortcut to WINSALES.EXE to solve the problem.
